Prayer Walk
Our weekend began on Saturday morning with Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Feast of St. Anthony, grounding everything in prayer before stepping out into the community. After Mass, we gathered for a Rosary prayer walk, making five special stops along the way. At St. Mary’s, we prayed that our parish may always be a place of welcome, compassion, and missionary love. At a common gathering place for many of the vulnerable in our community, we prayed espe

Dormition Parish
Tonight was one of those nights that reminded us exactly why this ministry matters. Because of the generosity of Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Dormition of the Mother of God, who put in great effort fundraising to sponsor tonight’s free community meal, approximately 290 people were served with pizza, watermelon, water bottles, and ice cream sandwiches. But tonight was about so much more than food. It was about people being invited to sit down and rest, and guests being ser

The Salvation Army
Our third stop today was The Salvation Army in Saskatoon Crossroads. This visit was especially meaningful because The Salvation Army has been one of St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach’s major partners, especially through the winter warm-up location that operated in our parish hall, the last 3 winters. Their staffing, leadership and experience helped make it possible for men to come in from the cold, rest safely, and be treated with dignity. Today, Roger gave us a tour of Crossroa

The Bridge on 20th
For the second stop of the day we had the blessing of visiting The Bridge on 20th Street. The Bridge is a beautiful Christian ministry in the heart of Saskatoon that serves so many of the same brothers and sisters we serve through St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach. They welcome people with food, friendship, practical support, prayer, and a real sense of belonging. During our visit, Carla gave us a very generous and extensive tour of their facility and shared about the many ways T

Friendship Inn
Today was an absolutely beautiful, very full, and very meaningful day with our young adults who are taking part in a Summer Service Project which includes service with us at, St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach. We spent the day visiting three incredible community partners who are serving many of the same brothers and sisters we serve through our outreach ministry. These are not just organizations doing good work. They are true partners, rooted in compassion, dignity, practical car

Community Pizza Night
St. Mary’s courtyard became once again a place where people could sit, rest, be served, and feel that they were exactly where they belonged. The sun was shining, people were gathered, and thanks to the generosity of those who support this ministry through monetary donations, we served 312 slices of pizza, along with chips, granola bars, Rice Krispie squares, water, juice, and pop. Instead of having our guests line up to receive a meal, we welcomed them and invited them to sit

Summer Service Project
This summer, St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach Ministry has had the privilege of hosting three young adults for a special service project: Huy, a seminarian for the Diocese of Saskatoon; Ian, from the Archdiocese of Vancouver; and David, from Kindersley. They have come to learn more about the realities faced by the vulnerable in our community, the year-round mission of our outreach ministry, and what it means to serve with both hands and heart. Alongside Jennifer, our Mission & O

One Year of St. Mary's Mission and Outreach
June 1st, marked the one year anniversary of St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach Ministry. Unbelievable how quickly a year flew by!! One year ago, this ministry began with a simple mission: to encounter Christ in the poor, the vulnerable, the forgotten, the lonely, and all those in need — and to respond with love. What has happened in this first year has been more than we could have imagined. It has been busy, emotional, challenging, grace-filled, fruitful, and truly life changin

God is Already There
In outreach, it can sometimes feel like we are walking into the hardest places… Places of deep pain. Of loss. Of struggle that we cannot fix. This is the truth we return to: We do not bring God into these spaces. God is already there. Before we arrive. Before we serve. Before a single word is spoken… He is already there. In the person in front of us. In the brokenness. In the silence. In the tears. And because of that, every place we enter is not just a place of need… It is h

To be seen and remembered
Sometimes the moments that stay with you the most are the quiet ones. Earlier this week, a man arrived at the hall wearing shoes that had no soles left on them because his boots had been stolen from him. Because of the generosity of donors who choose to make monetary donations, I was able to go out and intentionally purchase a brand new pair of boots just for him and bring them to him last night. When I gave them to him, he was moved to tears that someone would remember, c

Walking alongside
Last night, our Mission & Outreach volunteers had the privilege of stepping into St. Mary’s Hall to meet, talk with, and serve the gentlemen who find shelter and refuge there. With meals generously provided by the Friendship Inn, snacks supplied through the kindness of donors, and winter gear lovingly gathered by our community, we were able to offer not just food or clothing—but presence. We sat together. We learned names. We heard stories. We shared laughter. And at one poi

Hall Blessing Ceremony
With grateful hearts, we extend our deepest thanks to all who joined us on Saturday, November 1st, for the Blessing of St. Mary’s Hall in preparation for our Men’s Overnight Warm-Up Location. What a grace-filled and historic moment for our parish and our city. Elder Irene Sharp from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish began our gathering with a sacred smudge, honouring this land and blessing all who will find warmth and dignity here. Father Kevin McGee welcomed our community, dignit

New Mission and Outreach Coordinator
The beginning of a new chapter as the Mission and Outreach Coordinator at St. Mary’s Parish. This ministry was born from a desire to serve those who are often forgotten—the unhomed, the struggling, the vulnerable—and to build bridges of love, dignity, and hope. In this reflection, I share how this call unfolded, the sacred "yes" that led me here, and the mission that lies ahead.
