Our Mission Statement
As disciples of Jesus, we aim to foster enduring relationships of solidarity and mutual blessing between vulnerable and unhoused individuals in Saskatoon, particularly in the St. Mary's neighborhood, and Catholics throughout the Diocese of Saskatoon. We seek to achieve this by addressing the spiritual, corporal, and emotional needs of the unhoused population. In doing so, we create opportunities for our Catholic community to experience spiritual enrichment through the sharing of their gifts.

Being the Body of Christ
The Mission and Outreach Ministry at St. Mary’s Parish exists to be the Face and Body of Christ to those who often feel unseen. Our work is rooted in Gospel values and driven by love, compassion, and a deep respect for the dignity of every person.
Our mission is also one of connection—creating bridges between those we serve and the wider Church. We work in partnership with other local organizations and collaborate with parishes and parishioners across the Diocese of Saskatoon, fostering a sense of shared mission and mutual respect.
In all we do, we strive to see Christ in others and to let them see Christ in us.
OUR VISION
To be the Face and Body of Christ in the heart of our city—loving, serving, and walking alongside the poor, the unhomed, the vulnerable, and all who feel unseen. Guided by the Gospel, we envision a community rooted in dignity, compassion, and relationship, where every person is valued, and Christ is encountered in one another.
WHAT WE DO
We accompany and serve those who are unhomed, poor, vulnerable, addicted, or struggling in any way—offering both spiritual care and practical support. Whether it’s through a simple act of companionship, a snack and conversation, or helping provide essential needs like weekly food hampers, our ministry is about showing up with love.
OUR COMMUNITY
At St. Mary’s, our community is rooted in faith, shaped by diversity, and united in love. Within our parish, we are a multicultural family walking together in prayer, service, and compassion.
Beyond our church walls, we are deeply connected to the surrounding core neighbourhood—serving and walking alongside those who are unhomed, struggling, or seeking hope. Together, we strive to be a living witness of Christ’s love to all.
ABOUT ST. MARY'S PARISH

St. Mary's Parish
St. Mary’s Parish is the second oldest Catholic parish in Saskatoon and holds great historical significance in both our diocese and city. Founded in 1913, it has been a place of worship, welcome, and witness for over a century.
Located in the heart of the city’s core neighbourhood, St. Mary’s has long been known for its commitment to the poor and its deep care for the community. It has served generations of immigrants, refugees, and families seeking a spiritual home and practical support—often becoming the first place of connection and hope for newcomers.
Our parish community is richly multicultural, intergenerational, and deeply rooted in Gospel values. We are a parish with a mission—working to build a Church that lives the love of Christ through action, compassion, and service. The Mission and Outreach Ministry is a natural expression of that legacy, continuing the work of Christ among those most in need.
For many decades, St. Mary’s Parish was blessed to be served by the Redemptorist Fathers, whose missionary spirit helped shape the parish’s strong outreach identity and devotion to the marginalized. In more recent years, pastoral leadership has been entrusted to priests of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, who continue to guide the community with faithfulness, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving the people of the core neighbourhood.
St. Mary's Pastor
Fr. Kevin McGee
Meet Our Beloved Pastor – Fr. Kevin McGee
Originally from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Fr. Kevin McGee was ordained a priest on May 17, 1997, by Archbishop James Weisgerber and has faithfully served the Diocese of Saskatoon ever since. Today, he is both the gentle-hearted pastor of St. Mary’s Parish and Vicar General of the Diocese.
With a heart that beats for the poor—whose vision first breathed life into our Mission & Outreach Ministry—Fr. Kevin exemplifies Christ’s compassion in action. Under his guidance, St. Mary’s opened its doors as an overnight warmth station for the two past winters, earning recognition at the Rotary Badge Shield Star Dinner.
A long-time leader of Centering Prayer—practicing and teaching for nearly two decades—he leads contemplative retreats and monthly contemplative Masses, nurturing deeper interior prayer in our faith community.
Away from the parish, he cherishes the solitude of his hermitage, where he built a beautiful fieldstone chapel in the woods. His household companions—a pair of charming pugs and a French bulldog—are fond witnesses to his gentle, pastoral care.
Fr. Kevin also brings joy to others through music, often playing guitar and lifting his voice in song—a quiet offering of love, faith, and devotion.
Fr. Kevin’s kind and humble spirit shines in every ministry he embraces—from celebrating sacraments, guiding our spiritual growth to embracing the poor and marginalized and ultimately turning this ministry into reality. We are profoundly blessed to have such a shepherd who witnesses God’s love through prayer, presence, and joyful service - following the call of the Gospel.

Message From Our Pastor -
Fr. Kevin McGee
I am delighted to welcome Jennifer Nunes as our new Coordinator of Outreach and Ministry. Jennifer has shared that she sees St. Mary’s Parish as her second home, which she loves with passion and commitment. She has served St. Mary’s in various ways over the years, notably through her musical gifts and by leading the choir in our liturgies.
When St. Mary’s Hall became available as a warmup shelter in Partnership with the Salvation Army, Jennifer and her family discerned a call to put into action the love of Christ for those who are vulnerable and homeless. This call has blossomed into the position she now holds as the Coordinator of Outreach and Ministry.
Although this is a new position for St. Mary’s Parish, it is rooted in a long tradition of caring for those in need under the pastoral leadership of the Redemptorist Community during their time at St. Mary’s.
In her role, Jennifer will bring a heightened focus to reaching out to those who live in our neighbourhood; especially those who are often the most vulnerable and marginalized. She will coordinate with volunteers and other partners, including parishes, faith communities, and schools, to respond to the corporal and spiritual needs of our brothers and sisters.
Mission & Outreach Coordinator
Jennifer Nunes
Meet Jennifer Nunes – Mission & Outreach Ministry Coordinator
Jennifer was born into the St. Mary’s Parish community and has been shaped by its deep history of faith, service, and love for the poor. Growing up in the heart of the parish, she witnessed firsthand the power of compassionate outreach and the beauty of a Church that walks with those on the margins.
In 2025, Jennifer was entrusted with the role of Coordinator for the newly formed Mission and Outreach Ministry. With a heart rooted in the Gospel and a passion for serving the vulnerable, she leads the ministry with humility, courage, and a vision of belonging for all.
Jennifer is the first in her family born in Canada, with proud Portuguese roots. Her cultural heritage mingled with her faith continues to flourish in her leadership of the annual Our Lady of Fatima Feast, a beloved diocesan celebration that brings the community together in prayer and devotion.
A devoted mother to three energetic, soccer-loving boys, Jennifer lives her vocation as a mother entrusting her boys to Our Lord. Over the years, she has served in various parish ministries, including Parish Pastoral Council, the Liturgy Committee, and as organist and director of the Music Ministry—offering both her voice and her heart in service to the Church.
At the core of her mission is a simple, powerful desire: to be the face of Christ to those she serves. Whether through offering tangible needs, a listening ear, or a shared prayer on the street, Jennifer hopes to bring Christ’s love into the lives of those who need it most.
