A Joyful Neighborhood BBQ at St. Mary’s Parish

This past Wednesday, under the bright and hot summer sun, St. Mary’s Mission and Outreach Ministry welcomed our neighbours for a delicious, come-and-go community BBQ. With over 550 hot dogs, more than 600 bottles of water, and over 400 popsicles shared along with some other goodies, the day was filled with simple joys, cheerful conversations, and plenty of smiles.

The gathering offered a chance for neighbours to mingle, share stories, and connect in a welcoming space. Some lingered to chat on the parish lawn where we had tables set up; every interaction reflected the spirit of community and friendship we treasure.

We are especially grateful to our Mission and Outreach volunteers, whose generosity, cheerful service, and dedication made the day possible. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Contour Developments for their sponsorship and for volunteering alongside us, helping to serve the food and drinks with care and kindness. Your partnership allowed us to share not just refreshments, but also fellowship and Christ’s love with our neighbourhood and demonstrated your generous heart of giving as a leader in the community.

As Scripture reminds us: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2) This gathering was a small but beautiful way of living out that call—opening our hearts and welcoming our neighbours with warmth and generosity.

We are deeply thankful for every helping hand, every smile, and every friendly conversation that made this BBQ such a joyful celebration of community. May God continue to bless our parish, our volunteers, our sponsors, those we serve and all those who came together in friendship and fellowship.
