To be seen and remembered

Sometimes the moments that stay with you the most are the quiet ones. Earlier this week, a man arrived at the hall wearing shoes that had no soles left on them because his boots had been stolen from him.
Because of the generosity of donors who choose to make monetary donations, I was able to go out and intentionally purchase a brand new pair of boots just for him and bring them to him last night.
When I gave them to him, he was moved to tears that someone would remember, care enough to go out, and even buy them in his exact size. His gratitude was so genuine and heartfelt.
He was so thankful for those boots that when it was time to rest, he hid them under his head to make sure nothing would happen to them.

And this morning, when I walked into the hall and saw his old worn-out shoes sitting quietly in the corner where he had left them behind, I was the one brought to tears. In that moment I was reminded again how something that may seem small to us can mean everything to someone else — to feel seen, remembered, and cared for.
Monetary donations are what allow me to respond to needs like this as they arise and fill the gaps when someone is struggling. The continued support of this community means more than I can express. If you are able, please consider supporting this ministry so that we can continue to be present for moments like this. ❤️
