This summer, St. Mary’s Mission & Outreach Ministry has had the privilege of hosting three young adults for a special service project: Huy, a seminarian for the Diocese of Saskatoon; Ian, from the Archdiocese of Vancouver; and David, from Kindersley.
They have come to learn more about the realities faced by the vulnerable in our community, the year-round mission of our outreach ministry, and what it means to serve with both hands and heart.
Alongside Jennifer, our Mission & Outreach Coordinator, they have gone out on street outreach, handing out drinks and snacks, exchanging names, listening to people’s stories, and learning from those whom many too often treat as unseen. They have also helped with our weekly hamper program, served at our community meal, and joined in a major clean-up outside our church and hall.
It has been a blessing to have their young energy, willing hearts, and desire to learn and serve... looking forward to the coming weeks with them.
May this experience continue to form in them a deeper love for Christ present in the poor, the vulnerable, and all those placed before us.
